BJ. Kirk, our company President and C.E.O., is a retired full time Emergency Medical Technician Basic, Volunteer Fire Fighter, Instructor, Chief of Security, a life long resident of Ashtabula County and a graduate of South Ridge Christian Academy and the Ashtabula County EMT-B & Fire Fighter classes. He is very family oriented coming from a large family and having two sons of his own. He is very team oriented and cares about each of his employees.

He brings to ERT Security more than 20 years of experience in the life safety industry having started his career in life safety at the age of 17 as an alarm dispatcher for a local alarm company moving through the ranks in the system design and installation departments soon becoming Operations Manager for the entire company. After many years of working for that company he was offered a position with a new alarm company opening in the area as a Territory Sales Manager. Currently disappointed in how the company he was working for was treating the clients and the many service complaints he was receiving with no changes being allowed by the companies management he gladly accepted the position hoping that the new company and their promises to him in keeping the clients needs first would stand true but after several months the new company quickly lost sight of the main objective and what was promised of keeping the clients first in the protection of their lives and property and he soon became disheartened and frustrated.

Seeking another alarm company to work for that shared the same values, integrity, principles and commitment to how a client should be treated without deception and negligent sales tactics and to exceed a client’s expectations none could be found. In June 1989 he went off on his own opening ERT Security as a private consulting company designing systems and negotiating contracts between the different alarm companies on behalf of his clients protecting their interests by knowing the games, selling practices, and tactics that the other companies use and still do. Then in 2007 he expanded ERT Security in several ways; he expanded the company into a full service life safety company now offering sales, service, installations and 24 hour UL Listed alarm monitoring. The second change was the opening of the Cincinnati and Akron, Ohio offices. He completed these expansions because the other companies were still not keeping the clients best interest in mind and he knew what the clients expected. He grew up in business management and industry having worked for both of his parents multiple local companies since he was a young child and took that experience and knowledge that he grew up with and applied it to his own company and took advice from his grandfather who was an originating partner in Iten Industries.

BJ is sincerely a dedicated client advocate, he knows how to bring clients the best solutions for their needs, what they expect from an alarm company, working with them to obtain the protection they need and working with their budget. He stands strong and unwavering in his commitment to provide the best service, the best monitoring, the best protection, and all at an affordable price to his clients. He takes a great deal of criticism from other company owners in the industry over his low prices but since day one he still remembers why he started the company and that was to treat the every client right and fairly and to make a modest and honest profit.
